Thirty Years of Excellence

Heritage Baptist Academy offers a distinctly Christian education to Memphis-area children. Founded in 1973, Heritage has established a track record of quality academics and high standards that has endured for over thirty years. In its kindergarten, elementary, and secondary divisions, Heritage trains children ages five through the twelfth grade. Heritage is a member of the Tennessee Association of Christian Schools (TACS).

Heritage’s students have won numerous individual and group awards at the state or national levels in academic, music, art, Bible, speech, and athletic competition. Most of the school’s 300+ graduates have gone on to pursue college or university training. HBA alumni can be found both locally and internationally working as teachers, pastors, missionaries, doctors, and businessmen.

Ministry Focus

Our faculty and staff regularly go the "extra mile" to meet the individual needs of their young people. To us, teaching is not just a job, but a calling of God upon our lives. We believe that God wants us to reflect His love to our young people. We make time for our students and their families. Each staff member is a faithful active member of Heritage Baptist Church or another like minded church. We understand that some of the most important lessons we can give to our students is through an example of a Christ-like life. We are not perfect, but take seriously our own personal relationship with the Lord.

Academic Excellence

Our experienced faculty know how to get results. Our academic program includes traditional classroom instruction, daily homework, special projects, reports, research papers, outside reading, and field trips. Our teachers are skilled in using a variety of audio-visual materials and modern teaching aids. Our students regularly test well above national norms in standardized achievement testing.

Fine Arts Emphasis

HBA has a proud Heritage of quality instruction in the fine arts. Although we are a small school, we emphasize music instruction in our curriculum, and our students are encouraged to take advantage of public speaking opportunities. Our various choirs enjoy several opportunities to perform and compete each year. We desire to add to this emphasis in the future as the Lord allows.

Bible-Centered Instruction

Not only do we offer Bible classes, chapels, prayer, songs, Scripture memory, and catechism instruction; but we teach every subject from a Biblical perspective. In history, we teach our students that God is the Sovereign Ruler over world events. In mathematics we show that order and logic have their origin in the mind of God. In science we present God as the Divine Creator of the universe. Although our students learn about the theories of evolution, we do not teach evolution as fact. Instead of teaching students that they are animals and products of chance, we teach them that God made them in His image, loves them, and wants them to discover His plan for their lives. Our students are firmly grounded in the Christian world view; not the humanistic, relativistic world view prevalent in our society today.
